dizzee rascal - pussyhole (zshare)
brahhh dont make me get old school... not dizzees best but its a new video.

VIDEO ROUNDUP

chamillionaire - hip hop police ft slick rick (zshare)
this videos got me laugghhhhhhinnnnng. the songs only half tolerable but the cham-as-anchor is hilarious, and the intros still funny five times later.

ja rule ft lil wayne - uh oh (zshare)
i cant believe ja's back!!!! not even mad at this song, even if the beats hecka annoying the first 8 bars. this is interesting too, they both got arrested the other night in separate incidents for gun possession (video proof).

kanye west - cant tell me nothin remix ft young jeezy
zack galafhsdfhls is usually pretty funny, but i despise kanye a little more for this (he couldnt have been involved but im going to count it against him anyway). the other guy in this video is bonnie prince billy... im not even kidding. wtfuhhhhh?

FREEKEY ZEEKEY

^ its a funny video but 3:23 is hilarioussss

i've been holding off posting this because ive been trying to find this dayummmmn freekey song from way back... i cant remember none about it but the classic rock guitar & it was from his greatest hits mixtape pre-pen. the mixtape has dropped off the face of the interplanet and i lent my copy out last year before i copied it (fffffuhhh). anyway im giving up my search (i had been spelling his name wrong too) so you can listen to this now -- sorry i dont have any old stuff my hd died a few months ago and the diplomats got the axe. zekey as in dips president freekey (myspace).

freekey zekey - hater what u lookin at (zshare)
i was real fond of this one until i started saying "hater whut u lookin at" to everybody. it feels un-zekey but i guess he's been license-plate-pressing for a while so it makes sense to change it up a bit. but not thaaat much.

lil wayne ft freekey zekey & jha jha - beat without bass (zshare)
not strictly zeekey (he's a no-factor. even jha jha outs him) but this songs solid. i love an excuse to sneak in weezy-f-baby-dont-forget-the-baby. i always wished they cut the bass out for a verse or sommmmething though. i thought this was going to be on zekes album but i guess i missed it (?).

freekey zekey ft zen - like this (zshare)
this is probably my favorite from his new cd. i cant nail it down... maybe the mellow-not-shitty beat, the hint of remorse, i dont know. zen does a good job too, the best (least lazy) guest on the album.

really though, if anybody knows that classic-rock-beat zekey song i'm talking about, throw it on zshare in the comments or something & i'd return the favorrrrr.

WTF AMY WINEHOUSE

before & after (right & left, respectively) via wwtdd... theyve also got a gross picture of her boobs. blaghhhh.

ghostface ft amy winehouse - you know i'm no good (zshare)
i was going to post the wale rehab remix (again), but then i remembered this one. she sounds pretty good on this, even if ghost's wicked rushed. it was cut from the fishscale album, but they put it out on more fish.

i mean the point is amy winehouse looks like a catfish-weimaraner. and by that i mean a chupacabra.

RAUL MIDÓN

sort of in the vein of the last post (acoustic guitars!?!?). he opened for musiq a few days ago... blind bol who plays guitar in a slappy bongo style (myspace). its that middle of the day chill type music -- a little latin stuff in there (i think he's from new mexico) -- the cd is like a mix between the babyface unplugged cd and keb 'mo. its a little old though, but apparently he's got a new one coming soonish...

raul midón - sitting in the middle (zshare)
this is a real great song. the chorus is solid, his voice sounds the best here (except that one long note maybe), the guitar is real focused (i love the breakdown at the end). this should have done real well on the radio but i guess they missed it.

raul midón - keep on hoping (zshare)
really i just like the whistle part in the middle. i'm not sure who he's singing with, it might even be falsetto-raul (?).

BONUS ROUND: he used to be a back up singer for shakira & ricky martin. wait whuttt??

PLAIN WHITE T's

i was going to post this yesterday but i got distracted... the video above is the original version and there's a solid beated-up remix below. wikipedia had some interrresting facts about the song (which i'm not super ashamed about liking): apparently its a year old, and its the first song to go 6-5-4-3-2-1 on the singles chart over 6 weeks. so hi-fives all around p.s. thats a shitty band name p.p.s. tell me they didnt flavor-jack mrs. robinson with this song....

plain white t's - delilah stay crunk (juliano412 remix) (zshare)
now its semi-appropriate in teh club. i got this off the hollarboard but its down now, so hopefully i tagged this right.

k i'm going to listen to the same girl remix another 30 timesss

"PAUSE"

22 seconds

ANDRE 3000

i like andre 3k as much as the next guy (even thought love below was pretty good), and he's certainly played the guest verse well over the past year (i cc'ed a text to a girl i used to see). but whether or not i need a full dre mixtape is another story though... its not mixed super well and i havent been paying enough attention to figure out which songs are new or whats the deal (it seems to be a mix of his recent guest verses, old outkast songs, and presumably new stuff).

andre 3000 - whole foods mixtape (sendspace)
it says think differently music, as in the mf doom over unused wu beats think different, but theres not any gimmicks as far as i can tell. at least worth a listen to remind you about she lives in my lap. there's also this song junglebook, which i like a lot, even if dre is mostly absent.

lloyd - you remix ft andre 3k & nas (zshare)
the highlight for me, and it was a big one, was the verse from the remix of lloyd's you remix. i guess i missed this one, but its a take on one of my favorite favorites (pm dawwwwwnnnn!!!). its quite good.

KANO

my half-grime list doesn't end w/ dizzay... i liked home sweet home a lot better than showtime, and probably more than any uk rap release besides boy in da corner. i remember when it came out too, a lot of people were calling kano the guy to really break uk rap mainstream (over here) or some bullshit like that. 3 years later-ish kano's finally coming back w/ another album so maybe he can try again. i mean craig david is a huuuge pickup, he sounds great on here, and this is a good representation of good kano (he raps better when he's modest) so who knows. damn i hope so i like this bol.

i've been bumming around trying to find an mp3... i found a snippet and a shitty myspace rip or something. you can listen to this though, its still good:

kano - sometimes (zshare)
this is what i was talking about the modesty things. one of my favorites PERIOD. keep an eye out, when i find the this is the girl song i'll edit this and post it too.

and here's a bonus:
the other kano - another life (zshare)
some space age business right there... a great great buildup.

R&B REAL QUICK

i heard this fantasia song the other day that apparently came out a year and a half ago... case i'm not the only one who missed it i've got to do a little r&b post. no surprises, just an in-case-you-weren't-paying-attention jawn.

fantasia - when i see u (zshare)
i dont know, something about the beat maybe... i'm really feeling this one. i cant look at this jawn though so she can hold off on a video. i have to hide the album cover in itunes.

ciara ft 50 cent - cant leave em alone (zshare)
the first 50-affiliated song i've half-liked (tenth-liked) since hate it or love it. this is my favorite from the ciara cd & its finally getting some plays (a lot i think). wtf is w/ the beat in the beginning though thats the worst thing i ever heard.

r kelly ft polow da don & keyshia cole - best friend (zshare)
in the same storytelling vein of trapped in the closet. probably my dark horse favorite from double up... but yoooo I HEARD THERES GONA BE TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET PARTS 13-22. get the fuaaaaaaack out robert.

i'm still liking that young buck one from a week or so ago, so imagine i linked it again too.

SKRATCH BASTID

so i picked up this SOLID boy looka here remix the other day (well matched w/ what happened to that boy) & i thought it was the first i'd heard from skratch bastid (myspace)... until i youtubed him and saw it was the same bol from the empire death march scratch routine from a few years back... part novelty & part geniussss. but like i said i've only got this one mix from him:

skratch bastid - what happened to that boy looka here (zshare)
what happened to that boy has always been one of my favorite beats... this will be a good addition to whatever set youre working, he mixes them both well so people will think you're mr smooth in the mix. and i haaaaated the original rich boy jawn.

DAVID BANNER

all im really waiting for release-wise now (since dizz & kellz albums came out) is david-david-david-david banner-banner-banner-banner's GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD (myspace). there's no new leaked tracks, just general anticipation for what will inevitably be my new favorite album. ive decided to replace my nothing-but-wayne thing with nothing-but-banner for a while... theres no release date so this could go on for a while. you can find the leaked tracks somewhere, these are some of my favorite oldies:

david banner - cadillac on 22's (zshare)
i always love the guitars in db productions. the real reason i'm putting up this track though, is to link to this GREAT find @ cocaine blunts (linkkk) where david prays before an acoustic version o.O

david banner - my lord ft sky & marcus (zshare)
i'm going to keep with the acoustic-guitar songs i think. here's another great one withe always-appreciated david banner gravelly singing voice. the chorus in the background during the chorus is a great production touch.

david banner - my life ft sky (zshare)
this is essentially the same song as my lord, but i'd still rather listen to these 2 songs than mmm anything else. this is one of my favorite favorite david banner songs... the chorus is better than most, and i feel like he's going on a super-personal verse. i put one song from each of his last 3 albums, but i'm going to hold off on any new stuff so i can do this all over again in a few weeks...

SEE YOU MONDAY

ive got to take a few a days to chop down trees and chit. in the meantime, i suggest this.

WALE

ive been backing wale (myspace) since the first time i heard good girls... he's like a less pussy kanye west. he reps dc as hard as anyone ever has -- not many rappers brag about go-go -- and i think he's got a lota the pieces for success. the lily allen & mark ronson collabs have been good, this time wale jumps up w/ nick catchdubs (blog) of fader fame.

its a solid mixtape, the whole things on zshare... there's some weird and new stuff on there (wale over justice's d.a.n.c.e. uh whuttt) and while its not mind blowing (crucial lyric: "i'm not the next biggie, i'm not the next jay / i'm not the next nas, i'm the first wale") its an enjoyable summer listen. i really like the last song, 'rediscover me'

wale & nick catchdubs - 100 miles & running mixtape (zshare)

get on board now & feel cool in 6 monthssss. i saw tabi bonney on mtv jams, lets crank out a video for 'ice cream girl' or something.

HOLLAND BOYS

phillay weirdness. i cant describe exactly why or how much i like holland boys (myspace), but something about his/their german-workout shtick (sp?) is always endearing nh. we brought him to do a show and when he finished this song he said "is everyone having a fantastic time? i don't care because i am." he also invited everyone to an afterparty in his hot tub.

holland boys - i am gay (zshare)
this always reminds me of the girly-men sketch from snl...

holland boys - intense serious love (zshare)
this ones pretty good too... the instrumentals perfect for it. i mean this guy does a convincing gay german. he reminds me of the stella bol.

CRAZY LEGS

daaamnnnnn i just made a long ass post about the evolution of baltimore club music, how rnb fused tracks w/ pianos and strings instead of just sirens and synth horns are the future, how dj booman & the doo dew kidz are pioneering some slick shit just like they always have, how much i still like icebox, BUT blogger decided to delete it. i'll catch up w/ you later though...

jare ft d.o.g. - crazy legs (zshare)
production by dj booman (the man above). this is real slick, radio-ready song, exactly where club music needs to go. high fives all aroundddddd

THE CANSECOS

the cansecos (myspace) have been one of my favorite indie-type groups since their self-titled in 2003. theyre on the pretty good upper class recs w/ russian futurists & cadence weapon -- both worth checking -- but it always seemed like their distribution was nonexistent. theyve got a fairly unique sound, like a cross between magnetic fields & postal service, in a good way. a lot of synths and mildly glitchy beats, the guy talk sings more than anything... i dont want to post any of their old stuff but its def worth a look (itunes store)

anyways so the cansecos are back in the fold, prepping a new album, & theve gone head and released a mixtape. its pretty straight disco, but w/ them singing intermittently on top. i recognize some of the lyrics from their newer stuff but i dont think any of the production is theirs. its a fun listen... it reminds me of something escort (myspace) might do.

the cansecos - juiced side a (right-click, save as)

the cansecos - juiced side b (right-click, save as)

cool.

UPDATES

3 SOLID new tracks from artists ive upped recently. enjoyyy

gucci mane - freaky gurl remix ft ludacris (zshare)
this is one of the gooch's best, and i always love new luda, even if he always sounds like old luda. they should've got someone else on this though (KELLZZZZ?!?!?!)

sean kingston - me love (zshare)
this is a real new one... it wasnt on his mixtape or anything. not as huge as beautiful girls, and i cant remember the sample, but it almost reminds me of red wine or some other ub40 (wait is it really ub40?? if so, raspect).

b.o.b. - use ur love (zshare)
b.o.b. pulling a wayne-o emo thug. they could have done more with the sample, but its cool i guess. theres been a lotta songs like this lately... i'm thinking the pack sampling styx or the crime mobb 'what is love' song. it definitely gives him another dimension...

THIS IS ENGLAND

i finally watched this the other day and it was great, highly recommended... the kid is real talented or at least memorable. but im rally posting about it for this song from the soundtrack (their music selection was wes-anderson-mark-mothersbough solid). ive been honestly listening to nothing but lil wayne mixtapes for like 2 weeks and nothing better has come along (except i did finally get the johnny cash hurt single w/ wichita lineman on it) except this piece:

gravenhurst - nicole (zshare)
real chill, emotive guitar & piano music. when i said nothing but lil wayne i wasn't including this song (or exaggerating)... ive listened to it quite a bit lately. something about the guitar line reminds me of ain't that a shame too. here see what im saying:

DJ AMAZE

i was gona make this post without really knowing much about amaze... i knew he was from delaware and did a lot of non-club stuff around here, but i had no idea how big dude is. mtv spring break official dj?!?! ive been playing smack it up for a year, i always thought it was just a random bol from tristate or some business. not only does he have some great me+celebrities pictures on his myspace, hes even got jokey videos on youtube. i thought the whole "amaze the icon" thing was hyperbole.

dj amaze - smack it up (zshare)
this is such a great club track. the vocals are well done, the samples well executed and recognizable... this and its remix are his only productions ive got, but they're pretty good. respect to mtv for bringing in a fresh face.

dj amaze - smack it up remix (zshare)
i like the addition of a female voice, but i dont think this particular girl does a great job... she just says it kind of weird. when you hear the mandolin or whatever, its not super suprising this guy was a cancun dj for a while. and its pretty impressive hes taking the baltimore sound to the caribbean. hmm i like the drums on this one better too.

KARDINAL OFFISHALL

this is one of the more enjoyable tapes ive heard in a minute minute... clinton sparks as in the great clinton sparks (site) & kardinal offishall as in the just-signed-to-konvikt-music-yessssshhh kardinal offishall (myspace). kardinal jamaicaraps over mostly throwback 90s beats (clinton does a lot of "shout out to dj premier. get GET FAMILIAR!!!") and its real well done. mixtape cover of the year... clint looks hi-larious.

clinton sparks & kardinal offishall - do the right thing mixtape (sendspace)
standout tracks: 'crookless dodgers' ft voyce is amazing, ive never heard a voyce before; he reminds me of the streets singing but a lotta better. kardinal's single 'graveyard shift' is phenomenal too, ft akon... i love the beat and kardinal comes real tough. know what, elevators is pretty good too, they do outkast fair justice.

and check these out too (youtube) they work some of the songs into clips from the spike lee joint

SOULJA BOY

sorry i been sloppy lately, i'll try to get more focused...

soulja boy - crank dat (superman dat hoe) (zshare)
this is my JOINT lately, along with that jump rope thang... soulja boy is okkkk

JUMP ROPE

OH KAY KAY KAYYYY. ill post an mp3 as soon as i find it... eraser klick - jump rope (myspace?) soon to be large... heard it here fust!!

THE METERS

im not going to try and write an authoritative post on a band that lived and died before my time... i dont know anything about them other than what wikipedia and their site tell me, and i only have one of their albums. buuuuuuut im repping the meters nonetheless, because in 1970 they flawlessly covered prolly my favorite song and recorded the should-be-sampled-a-lot-more handclapping song and THAT is the jawwwn. i wish i knew more about funk music...

the meters - wichita lineman (zshare)
i first heard this version on cosmo baker's love break mixtape at like 4 in the morning when i was about to fall asleep, and then i spent an hour the next day scanning the tape trying to find it again, then scrolling through the itunes store trying to find which version it was. the glen campbell one is still my favorite, but this is real good too. its more relaxed, so its good to throw in every now and then, and i like the breakdowns.

the meters - hand clapping song (zshare)
i just reallllly like this. the way he does the get softer, get louder thing, the guitar lines, the imperfect claps, when the guy sings the guitar notes.

j child - heat rock ft mullyman (zshare)
im sure this has been sampled before, but ive only heard this one, produced by baltimore club dude king tutt, and with 2 of the cities bigger mcs. its my secret warmup song when i play out, and i think they all do it justice.

YOU CAN STOP NOW

my favorite producer evar remixed d.a.n.c.e. so all you little g's puh-lease don't bother.

justice - d.a.n.c.e. (alan braxe remix) (zshare)

sonned.
