VIDEO ROUNDUP

sean kingston - beautiful girl (zshare)
i rally like watching lil seanie singing in this... he's a happy looking dude

r. kelly - same girl ft usher (zshare)
i hope kellz and ursh are really friends like this. solid song.

t.i. - you know what it is ft wyclef (zshare)
great shottas tribute (?) w/ ky-mani marley & teddy bruckshot... t.i. makes me laugh. wyclef is still annoying though...

kanye west - stronger (zshare)
i wasnt feeling this at first but i guess its kinda sick... he shoulda got t=pain on the chorus. kanyes shades is craaaayyyy!!!

bone thugs n harmony - lil love ft mariah & bow wow (zshare)
wtf where'd mariah come from? honest i never liked bone thugs. but you know.

PLAN B

not far behind dizzee on my list of non-american (ie britishhh) mc's is plan b (myspace). the best, -- and the most common way to describe him -- is as a thinking mans eminem... (a) he's white (b) he raps as different characters, or he tells a lot of story raps, and (c) he's often offensive. but the reason i like him, and the reason i never respected em, is that he seems to have an underlying social message (lol).

i wish i had the time or energy to dig through a bunch of plan b interviews, but the general impression i've always got is that he says what he says as hyperbole, to poke out how ridiculous x-behavior is. i also like him because i read he began his career as a justin-timberlake-with-guitar type, but when that wasn't working he was like "fuk that its time for plan b" which i guess was just b being b?? anyway so i liked his name.

plan b - cast a light (jose gonzalez) (zshare)
i mentioned this a few posts ago, in the folk grab bag jawn... jose's chorus works pretty well and its a clever enough concept. he has a mixtape of rock songs called paint it blacker, which is prolly a worn-out idea but he's british so i pretend he's the first to do it.

plan b - wild horses (rolling stones) (zshare)
same tape as the first song, here with the stones. its a nice break from southern rap to put this on, kinda chill but w/o a lot of the indierap pretension. i'm not sure how big he is in england.

plan b - no good (zshare)
one of my favorite cuts from his album, i love the beat, and the guitar works well enough with it. this is a real sick one, he had a mixtape where he put the beat over kidz too. not his best lyrical work though (matter fact none of these showcase his best... check out his albummm on itunes)

BIRD PETERSON

bird (myspace) is big enough name in the internet world... he seems to release mixes consistently and of big enough tracks to always stay noteworthy. style-wise he's usually been too weird for me, blasting wow basses and a lot of stutters, but every once in a while something will work real well. he has a distinct style but he sounds best (in my opinion) when he breaks away from it. you'll see...

cupid - cupid shuffle (bird peterson remix) (zshare)
this is a total mind eff and im probably only posting it because its the cupid shuffle. this is an example of the bird sound he's carved out for himself, and the other tracks are less unique (?) or less bird peterson sounding (??)

wale - freaks (bird peterson remix) (zshare)
i actually made this post to put up the cupid shuffle track, but i just stumbled on this... im a big wale fan (dc, dc) so its cool to see (a) a bird remix and (b) a chill bird remix. worth a look, its a lot more relaxed than his usual work.

big country - in a big country (bird peterson mountainside sex mix) (zshare)
this was my ringtone for a while... i first heard it in a scottie b mix, during the height of the over-baltimore-club-ification remix phase a few months back. its a song that doesnt need a bmore-ish remix, but its kind of refreshing and a good reason to listen to the song again. i remember reading that bird said he was giving up making baltimore club type songs because "he wasn't good at it and that he needed to do him" or something like that, but i like this the best.

PLIES

plies (myspace) is the new bol on slip-n-slide (trick daddy, rawwse, trina) and im liking where this is going. hes got the lean song, the jawn song, and a solid look; alls he needs is for atlantic to stop sitting on 'the real testament'. in terms of new southy guys i probably prefer b.o.b. but plies has some potential... hes at least angrier.

plies - got em hatin (zshare)
this is a huge song, def his best. the beats typical nitty (ie sounds like its goin down) but its a little tougher. dont know why this never hit big radio (or philly?)...

plies - i just want the paper (zshare)
someone used the same biggie hook earlier this year, but this is still prettay good. his voice dominates the track even if you cant always understand him. i wonder how old this dude is, hes new but i dont think hes a kid.

plies ft t-pain - shawty (zshare)
this is his big hit right now. originally it was a webbie track, but somewhere along the line plies jacked it. yah its a real good one, t-pains the new akon or r kelly or something, hes all over the dayumm radio. im not even mad at autotune yet.

ok i have to post this one too...
plies - confessions (zshare)
its not great but hes rapping over usher's confessions. YEAHHH BOYEEEEEE.

FOLK GRAB BAG

honestly ive just been listening to the evil empire lil wayne tape (last chance to jump on the man-wagon) over and over, but i think ill post some folk jawns instead. these are 3 winners too...

meg baird - waltze of the tennis players (zshare)
of baird sisters (myspace) and espers (myspace) fame. this is as good a song ive heard lately, both lyrically and shesoundsgood-ly...

jose gonzalez - crosses (zshare)
this is almost 2 years old but for some reason it missed me (probably because i kept confusing him w/ juan gonzalez, the dfa guy). i actually heard it redone on a plan b mixtape a bit ago, but never knew the original til recently. like the meg track, it has a really memorable chorus

glen campbell - wichita lineman (zshare)
one of my favorite songs PERIOD. its been redone a dozen times, but the originals unfukwittable. its the rhinestone cowboy guy, but this ones so much better: the chorus (theme?) is one of the most ccrucial ive ever heard.

LIL FLIP & 90 BICHES

this is the first time ive put together a completely original song in a while... made it all today, lil flip & 90 biches (virb) TOGETHER AT LAST. i even threw in the inst to be thorough:

lil flip - game over (90 birds are dying remix) (zshare)

90 biches - game over (90 birds are dying intrumental) (zshare)

enjoy and/or let me know what you think.

FEIST REMIXES

feists always embraced remixes -- there was a whole remix cd of her first album -- so new album, new round of mixes. its easy to mess it up, especially since her songs arent electronic in nature, but heres a few good ones. its actually a pretty good cast producing these...

feist - 1234 (van she technologic remix) (zshare)
1234 was my favorite song from the reminder (itunes store) so im extra picky about remixes of it. the originals so fun because its all singsong cutesy, so this is prettay different. i like it a lot though -- van she usually bridges a decent gap between grating bloghouse sheit and solid music-related basslines -- and the endings cool when the original comes in.

feist - my moon my man (boys noize remix) (zshare)
this is the first mix i heard of her new stuff... i think before the cd even came out. i rally like the robot voice saying my moon my man, and the songs decent. when the beat cuts out its pretty sick too, i always like it when they do that.

feist - sea lion (chromeo remix) (zshare)
this is probably the most fun mix (shocking). chromeos consistently entertaining, and pretty much everything they do on this track is an improvement. not saying its a perfect song or whatever, it gets kind of old, but they dont make an missteps from the chromeo formula

feist - mushaboom (k-os remix) (zshare)
i wasnt going to include this originally since its kind of old, but its wicked good and probably the best remix of a feist song evar. and i usually dont even like k-os.

YUNG JOC

not trying to turn this into a videology situation but this deserves a look. joc think he eddie murphy or someshit and theres hecka cameos. and the halfway shot aboves pretty good.

yung joc - coffee shop ft gorilla zoe (zshare)
but you should know by now

CLAUDE VONSTROKE

this song has been stuck in my head for like 2 weeks... the little percolating thing that goes duhduhduh duh duh duh duh duh duh duhduh or when it does the groan noise before he asks what youre doing for dinner. i remember seeing this video a year ago and thinking it was the greatest thing but it never clicked til today (this songs at least 2 years old). vonstroke (myspace) has been affiliated with diplo & dj assault, but ive never taken too much notice... he runs dirtybird recs in san francisco, and i think he operates in the massive club techno realm, like some kind of half-tiesto?

claude vonstroke - deep throat (zshare)
the original mix of deep throat. i mean the songs stuck with me for a long time... in terms of half-minimal electronic stuff this is about as good as youll get

claude vonstroke - whistler (dj assault remix) (zshare)
this ones more my usual type. assault (myspace) adds some decent vocals and keeps all the necessary parts (ie whistling). theres not a ton of variation so its kind of hard to sit through the whole thing, but its a fun enough track and the intro buildup is pretty slick

the rapture - w.a.y.u.h. (claude vonstroke panty dropper vocal mix) (zshare)
it sort of bothers me when "remixes" sound nothing like the original track... this is a good example. the occasional yeahs and whats and the vocal tick thing are vaguely reminiscent of the rapture track, but other than that its just a vonstroke techno-y track. actually the way he puts the voice all helium-y is pretty cool at the halfway part (im listening now and i think i might have changed my mind in claudes favor)

GIRLFRIEND REMIX

in case you dont have mtv. i posted the remix a bit ago, heres the video.

COSMO BAKER

i dont want to keep the white stripes at the top of the page very long, sooo check this out (seriously though). cosmo baker, of rub fame and general notoriety and admiration(myspace), comes corrrect on a mix-because-its-fun-to-do mix he did last week. its called feeling good, its a good hour long, and heres what he had to say about it:

Often times I'll wake up in a certain mood and I'll want to make a mix that will accompany me during the day. This is how the first "Love Break" came about - just a mix for me to listen to in my car during a road trip. Anyway, a few weeks ago, I woke up and it was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the temperature was just right. It made me think of a certain sound that just means "spring/summer" to me, so before I headed out I made this mix to listen to while I ran around New York. There's nothing like New York in the springtime.

I hope you enjoy it.

cosmo baker - feeling good (zshare)

DANCES FROM THA HOOD

mtv presents: dances from tha hood. this is better than any zshare music post. blat blat!!

HOLLERTRONIX

2 new diplo tracks!! and an old one!! hollertronix 7 must be coming soon...

justice - d.a.n.c.e. (eli & diplo remix) (zshare)
i mean ill be honest, this isnt greeeaaaat. it might be more boring than the original (stripped down = boring (?)) except the bit at 4 minutes is wicked good. it takes a while to take off, but the second half is really a solid beat.

diplo - work is never over (zshare)
he took the "our work is never over" from kanye's daft punk sampling "harder" (which is a huge disappointment) and gave it the bmorey treatment. neither of these are gona change the world but yooooo new hollertronix!!!

the pack - vans til infinity (diplo blend) (zshare)
this is the older one... i like this a lot, like it was designed for me... 93 til infinity is my favorite song evar (youtube)and vans was VANS. no tricks, he just put vans over the instrumental, but it fits well and the whole young-california-kid undertone is sick.

DJ SLUGO

chicago house or ghettotech or juke whatevah is gona be the new baile funk/bmore club, so doodooheadstylejackers better get-get familiar. at its simplest, baltimore club is the combination of miami booty bass and chicago house, so it makes sense djs and whoever decides this stuff will revert to the original sounds (miami bass, as far as i know, is a dead genre. the only new stuff you hear is like revival bass a la yo majesty) for something fresh. and much like baltimore club, juke music is alive and well, largely due to the efforts of godfathercapodons like slugo (myspace). the formulas pretty simple too: wicked fast like 150bpm, limited percussion (huge kicks, electro-type percs, 80s snares or claps), chopped and repeated bad words. observe:

dj slugo - 114799 (zshare)
slugo's biggest hit, bka the godzilla tune. its got such a crazy horn (i think) and a frennnzy beat. i always like when the part at 0:56 cuts in, its a real sick buildup.

dj slugo - wouldnt you like to be a hoe (zshare)
its a more bass heavy spin on "hoes in da house." slugo has such a subdued style this will probly get written off, but with the right speakers and mindset you can really lose your shit.

dj slugo - back da fuck up (zshare)
WARNING: this is one a the dirtier songs ive heard in a BIT but something about it def catches me. like when hes saying "back da fuk up hoe" and it sounds like hes got a cheap computer mic, and then theres the little "get loose, awww shit" which is just his computer mic pitched up a little. like this guy just thought of it in his room when he was feeling grumbly.

RELAX MAN

ive been wicked busy today and its gona be worse tomorrow. southern rap and wu tanging and disco lights only go so far and the time has come to chill the f out. please join me:

vetiver - angels share (zshare)
this song begins perfectly and its relaxing in a real sepia-tone-and-wheat kind of way. theyre one of my secret favorite bands so get familiar

keb mo - every morning (zshare)
delta-type neo-blues circa 1994. i think hehe sort of sold out to easy listening now though, but dont worry this is still quite good

bonnie 'prince' billy - a minor place (zshare)
this song has been on repeat in my head for a solid three years. i think its one my all time favorite songs and i dont even know if its that good.

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

GRAB BAG

ive got a few solid tracks i want to share but i dont feel like throwing up artist filler to make them individual posts. pay attention im just throwing out money...

kilo - lean like a cholo (zshare)
this song is craaay. i want to do a party and just play this over and over again and march around with my elbows out, whistling at girls. flannel shirt & chinos so necessary. myspace & youtube... the videos too funny.

cool kids & lil wayne - gettin it (zshare)
i dont know if i credited this right, but this is from dj benzi's upcoming full length. cool kids (myspace) are kinda sick right now and the beats supersoaker... wtf where'd weezy come from?

young buck - u aint goin nowhere ft latoya williams (zshare)
im a sucker for sap rap and this is a real chill song (production by dre). i mean it will be here for a few weeks and go away, but til then ill have it on repeat. buck should rap like this more often.

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

B.O.B.

b.o.b. is and has been KILLING it for a solid three months in a row. his myspace is a rap classic too. man starts his bio with: "Shakespeare once asked, 'what is in a name?' B.O.B.’s name has so many definitions, but his music can best be defined by one term…exceptional." then he goes on to name all the different acronymns for b.o.b. (my favorite is books over bullets... this guys great). big tings coming for this guy...

b.o.b. - cloud 9 (zshare)
this is probably my favorite song of his... its such a chill song and he runs the beat real well. the singsongy hook is well done, but i think the best part is when the guitar comes in at the end. this has been on steady repeat all summer.

b.o.b. - atlanta, ga (zshare)
its kind of a cop out for an atl artist to make a song about atlanta, but i fux w/ you anyway bob. this song always makes me want to do the lean wit it rock wit it dance (?)

willie joe & b.o.b. - too much for me (zshare)
the definition of a dude song... nothing like guys talking about one-offing jawns. over robin thicke's lost without you which is pretty funny

ray l ft b.o.b. - my girl gotta girl (zshare)
this is frequently miscited as t-pain (hes got a monopoly on autotune yeah?) but its a pretty chill song. dude loves the player songs...

b.o.b. & wes fif - haterz everywhere (zshare)
i almost skipped posting this since you should know the deal already. huge huge song, radio gold, catchy hook, sneaking into whiteman vocabulary so you know its doing well. i think i might have actually put this up in the timbaland-jacking post...

Monday, June 11, 2007

RUSS CHIMES

i dont think ive done a straight dance post in a little bit... heres russ chimes (myspace) and a huge huge track. hes from lon-d-d-don and according to john hyde (myspace) he "sounds like kavinsky mixed with chromeo mixed with vice city mixed with shades and a leather jacket," which is probably overqualifying him but i like the leather jacket part.

russ chimes - shes got the heat (zshare)
ive only listened a few times, but so far this is one of the better no-words dance songs in recent memory. i mean its not too different than anything else coming out lately (im thinking like justice or simian mobile disco or surkin... if i took one track from each of their cds, i could easily throw in the russ song too) but this guy has yet to oversaturate every hypebeast blog...

russ chimes - push the feeling on remix (zshare)
this ones is missing the crazy synth at the beginning, but if you wait for the little buildup and for everything to kick in, its pretty good too. expecting big things for young bol.

BAD DOG RIDDIM

troyton rami's bad dog riddim has been getting a lot of looks lately. its a real minimalist, angry riddim (n00bz: a riddims a dancehall instrumental, and the producers release cds of 5-15 tracks where a bunch of different guys mumble over them) but i rally like the little synth arpeggio in the background... it reminds me of when timbaland put the cricket chirps on the rain (supa dupa fly), but spaceship scarier.

rekha - no guts (zshare)
this is my favorite one but i cant find ANYTHING about this jawn. im guessing shes from miami by the accent (?) i mean i dont even recognize the guy on the second verse... its like a gully kingston version of the dizzee-lily allen song

buju banon - crazy talk (zshare)
buju's real good on this too. i can imagine the recording scene being real scary... hes real gutteral and probably had his eyes rolled back in his head or something. i love how he says "skeered" and the line "talk is nothing but words and spit" is kinda sick.

aaliyah - that somebody (90's bad dog remix) (zshare)
the string hits reminded me of "are you that somebody" so i threw aaliyah over the bad dog, with the occasional bassline from her song. meh i think its pretty good...

Sunday, June 10, 2007

FATLIP

fatlip was the good one in the pharcyde until he quit to go solo but got really stoned instead. the loneliest punk (itunes) finally came out in 2005 and it was pretty good but ive the heard dude is pretty consistently out of it... hes back on deck though on the new chemical brothers album (what!!!) and ive always thought he was real interesting.

chemical brothers - the salmon dance ft fatlip (zshare)
honestly this is great. the robot salmon voice is that turner new classic! 'fish pay attention to the moon? wow' or how about 'did you know that i could go to japan and back? youre kidding me. amazing. geez.'

fatlip - whats up fatlip? (zshare)
its a real fun summery song. i like to picture fatlip walking down the boardwalk, taking really big strides and listening to a tape player and then the ice cream vendor does the 'whats up fatlip?' part and he's all 'coolin.'

fatlip vs daniel paul - spacelip (zshare)
this is a well executed blend by dopplebanger, who i believe has stopped making music (at least under that alias). he had a mixtape a few years ago called dark side of the gooom, which put rap acapellas over gooom records songs (most famous is m83 -- its all glitchy shoegaze electro stuff). you can download it all mixed here (right-click, save as). its one of my favorite mixes and pretty unique (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

Saturday, June 9, 2007

DR EVIL

dr evil is like the dirty alter ego of leftside and esco (myspace). legit info on any of these dancehall guys is always hard over the internet, but evil has GOT to be at least half a joke... i cant rally describe it, its just a high-type voice talking about weed and sex? he definitely talks more than anything else, and he makes a lot of corny puns (?)

dr evil - more punanny (zshare)
this is probly dr evil's biggest hit and its pretty funny. my favorite part is when he 'takes her to the beach and makes a tsu-na-na-nana-nami' YESSIR

dr evil - marijuana (zshare)
i mean they cant be serious. my go to line in this one is 'even better getting a headucation... get it headucation not education' but this whole things stupid

leftside & esco - tuck in yuh belly (zshare)
like i said dr evil is really just leftside & esco, and i cant talk about them without throwing this out there... one of my favorite dancehall songs of the past few years. the video is interesting too, in case you miss that theyre just mad at big girls. its like an anti-ugly anthem. classy.

Friday, June 8, 2007

DRAGONETTE

i dont have a ton to say about the band... dragonette (myspace) is man+woman pop, shes got a good but conventional voice, they've been popping up a lot in the remix world, their cd is pretty fun but i dont think its been released here yet...

dragonette - another day (zshare)
some of their album is a little too 'hey girls lets jump and rawk!!' for me, but this is a chill kind of song and more relaxy pretty.

dragonette - take it like a man (alan braxe fred falke remix) (zshare)
this was the most exciting for me, since i love 90% of alan and fred's work. i dont want to say this is in the 10% but its certainly not their best...

dragonette - i get around (van she tech remix) (zshare)
this might be my favorite. i def bounce around more to this than the others, and i like when the beat cuts out in the middle so you can do that pause when youre dancing and then lose your shit extra hard when it comes back.

dragonette - i get around (midnight juggernaught remix) (zshare)
this just came out on kitsune maison 4... i think ill put some songs up from there tomorrow since its quite good.

Thursday, June 7, 2007

LIL WAYNE

i just got benzi's new wayne mixtape so i guess ill stop ignoring f's baby for a bit (the tape is huge but thats a given... endorse b's whole catalogue). i guess carter 3 is coming soon. he has oversaturated the heyall out of the mixtape game so its (a) refreshing to hear a good one and (b) easy to lose interest in dudeman.

lil wayne - 88 shots ft robin thicke (nick catchdubs remix) (right-click, save as)
one of the bigger, bassier tracks is nick catchdubs (of the fader) mix of 88 shots. but my favorite song by a mile though is done by les biches (wtf i forgot about them... ugh gota change my name again) but you'll have to cop it for that one...

lil wayne - i feel like dying (zshare)
its pretty common knowledge that wayne-o is a vicadin fiend and this shit is a DRUG song... i actually like this more than most of his nonsense raps, i guess because i believe him.

lil wayne - la la la (zshare)
his new new one is la la la, which is basically a rehash of jay-z's hard knock life. his obsession w/ camel joe is absurd but im not mad about this one. the whole la la la vs louisiana thing is clever at least.

TTC

this will keep me entertained for a while... but i cant tell if theyre saying work it like missy always said it, or like 'make that paper.' i dont care because 3 seconds in big teki brushes his shoulder and its movie magic. their cd '36 15 ttc' is out and new and great... buy it here from ninjatune. blag blag blag their myspace is here ok download these now:

ttc - travailler (zshare)

ttc - travailler (dj orgasmic remix) (zshare)

UNDERGROUND KINGZ

this is one of the better rap videos ive seen in a quick quick minute. look at this lineup 3 stacks!!! i swear every rapper i half like, and every one i love is in this video: three 6 mafia, david banner (!), t pain, chamillinoaire, big gipp, fonzworth, ugk & outkast obviousl-o... i mean i would cosign anything with 3-6 or david banner but say-ay-ayyying!!!!

the moral of the story is ugk is and always has been the absolute truth. i dont care if pimp c pulled a gun on a woman in a mall, he could pull on me and id probly take out my camera phone (this is a lie). as far as im concerned ugk has long since solidified their status as quadruple-ass-ballin, and unless someone deletes 'sippin on some sizzurp' from my itunes, its going to stay that way. heres 2 of my not-as-famous favorites and a bonussss...

ugk - aint that a b***h (ask yourself) (zshare)
ugk is the masters of that southern funky fonk. so much of that texas swagger hinges on driving cadillacs at 10 mph and a slumper like this is perfect for candy paint creeping.

ugk - cigarette ft too short & 8ball (zshare)
i mean anything w/ too short earns my seal of approval, but this is such a chill song. i always smile at the whole 'officer you must be joking, it was a cigarette i was smoking' business

dizzee rascal - where's da g's ft ugk (zshare)
there were 2 points to this post, the video and the fact that UGK AND DIZZEE IS TOGETHER. its a great song (the best on dizz's new album) but if this doesnt almost blow your mind youre missing the point.

CHARIZMA

ive been known to say BIG SHOTS is my favorite rap album...

long story short: early 90s, 18 yr old charizma & young peanut butter wolf, they were on hollywood basics w/ organized konfusion, label jerked them around, they backed out of their deal, charizma murdered in 1993 without an album. (pb wolf's label) stones throw released big shots a few years ago. theres a real honest piece by wolf here where he talks about charizma a bit and how he always wanted to release the cd

in terms of that west coast chill happy sound i think he did it better than ANYONE. theres an interlude where he yells 'apple juice break' over this real dusty piano piece and youre like damn he was a young dude. i mean check the interview clip at the end of 'soon to be large' i love that.

charizma - ice cream truck (zshare)
roll your windows down sunny beach music. i dont know or care what hes really talking about.

charizma - methods (zshare)
roll your windows down late night summer music. this & '93 til infinity are my 2 favorite relaxrap tracks no doubter.

charizma - soon to be large (zshare)
not trying to drive the deadtooyoung tip so much but yo! these beats is so happy!!

buy big shots on itunes or youre soft (link)
stones throw always worth a look

THATS JUST MY BABY DADDY

b rock & the bizz - my baby daddy (zshare)

t-bird!!

LEXIE LEE

i dont know a ton about lexie lee -- i mean she has a pornstar name? -- someone showed me her site a few months ago but i havent been able to find ANYTHING. unsuprisingly shes sonning europe thou: her myspace puts her in germany through the month and has this craaaazy quote: "DJ Paleface played his exclusive remix of "Warlord's Daughtah" at a Rave in Sheffield and the whole crowd went crazy causing the Rave to be shut down after the audience gave Lexie many forwards followed by gun salutes." ok-k-kkkkk !!!!!!!

lexie lee - keep it duttyah (zshare)
this one is massive at the appropriate volume with the crazy 80s rap hats or whatever those are (afrika bambaataa stylee). this is a solid SOLID dance song...

lexie lee - pull up (zshare)
im gona jump hard on this bandwagon (its coming) its barely the softest of the 3 (meh?) and its still sick. but then look at this...

lexie lee - pull up (reggae remix) (zshare)
chyea -- i mean this isnt so so unique and i can see it getting passed over except for fatman scoops going nuts at the beginning. ill play it out tho

also i love this: "LEXIE LEE aka JACQUELIN DI RIPPA, DI ORIGINAL WARLORD'S DAUGHTAH." album 6/19/07 allegedly... big thanks to masala for getting the ball rolling

SEAN KINGSTON

kingstons only SEVENTEEN -- miami born jamaica raised -- and given the ridiculous label backing dudes getting (look at whose been on all his tracks/remixes... his first song had the game & rick ross) he's gona be a household name type. i mean beautiful girl is a huuuuge track which shouldnt hurt.

sean kingston - colors 2007 ft vybz kartel & kardinal offishall (zshare)
colors was the first track that came out and this is a respectable remix. it reminds me of the this is why im hot remix where they put on cham and junior reed. his jamaica thing seems like more label bullshit than uhh legitimate, so its cool they got established reggae dudes on it

sean kingston - beautiful girl (90 beat fills edit) (zshare)
you should have the original by now, heres a quick edit i did to make it more dj friendly maybe, filling out the beat a little more. fun fact: the song was originally called 'suicidal'

sean kingston - way we live (zshare)
i only half like this one, its just funny to listen to the way he switches from jamaica-sean to dade county-sean. its a pretty formulaic rick-ross-y song but i guess he holds up well -- i mean the dude is YOUNG, bow wow or romeo never had the swagger this guys holding.

SANTOGOLD

formerly of the punk band stiffed, now of the ex-hollertronix fallout gang i think. her album is going to have production from disco d (rip), switch, diplo, xxxchange, & freqnasty... so basically she's m.i.a. which is cool w/ me. i guess theres more reggae sounds vs all that baile business, but SAYING.

santogold - creator (zshare)
i mean the effects and just her voice sound so much like... switch produced this too which might explain some that

santogold - you'll find a way (switch & sinden remix) (zshare)
i probly like this one more. the production is a lot easier to take and the wah-wah-wah is kinda funny. my favorite part though is when the beat cuts out at like 1:30; she has a quite powerful voice, which i guess goes back to the punk stuff. yah this ones real good.

santogold - les artistes (zshare)
this ones real interesting. she sounds like gwen stefani, like even no doubt gwen stefani... i cant say im feeling this too hard, esp since i can listen to better versions of the same formula (whatcha know about that lil mama avril song. okkk)

TURF TALK

more bay bidness, here from turf talk (of judge joe brown fame ^)... hes FOR SURE one of the better dudes out there and it seems like he sneaks on many a solid remix, bay r kellay yadidamean...

his new album is quite good (pre-order on amazon). i dont have the time to flesh this out completely but theres a lot a similarities between hyphy slaps and grime beats. some of the weird perc crunchy noises remind me of wiley's playstation sounds... and the crazy basslines too. we finally got dizzee & ugk, now i want to see a kano & tynchy & wiley & turf & e-40 COLLAB. rick rock & dizzee would do the beat.

turf talk - doe boy ft e-40 & b-legit (zshare)
this is my favorite track i hadn't heard yet. all the little beat fills going on in the background as the verse progresses are sick, and i always love hearing scratching on a track. this is so solllid...

turf talk - groupie (zshare)
i didnt like this the first time i heard it because the girls on the hook sound so amateurish but i guess thats what traxamillion was going for. the double up effects on turf's voice are kinda crazy too (one high, one low, not quite synced up).

but seriously. him on joe brown.
